Computing & Software Localization
I have worked for more than 35 software localization projects from English into Spanish (mostly Mid-Atlantic Spanish versions of Microsoft software applications). Translation and editing for Windows, DOS, Mac, and PalmOS platforms. See some recent projects.

Tasks involved in this kind of projects: translation team recruitment, workload breakdown, translation of RS files, software strings, help files (RTF, HTML, Java), documentation, help compilation, beta-testing, glossary & style guide creation and maintenance, implementation of translation tools (macros, Trados).

Translation advisor for the Spanish Centro Virtual Cervantes (institution dedicated to protect and promote Spanish language and culture worldwide). Articles for computing and linguistics magazines, Diccionario de la Real Academia Española (Spanish Royal Academy Dictionary) manual and online help editing & creation, etc. I have given presentations about translation and the Spanish language in Spain and the USA (ATA Conferences). I currently give presentations and small courses on audiovisual translation and software localization in some Spanish universities.

Netscape Communicator 4.3-4.5 (translation, editing, glossary and style guide creation), LatAm advertising brochures, localization of some parts of the Palm Pilot organizer; documentation and help authoring for the Spanish Royal Academy CD-ROM dictionary.
